When you submit your resume, it is sent to the recruiter assigned to the job you choose and also entered into a database utilized by our entire recruiting group. Our recruiters regularly search this database to locate qualified candidates for open jobs. Searches utlize keywords and phrases that describe skills required for each job. It is important that resumes include terms and familiar industry acronyms for all relevant skills and experience that could be of value in a position at a Koch company.
Resume formatting tips
- Use only Helvetica, Arial or Times Roman Fonts
- Use 10, 12 or 14 point size fonts
- Make sure the entire document is left
justified
- Set margins for approximately 65 characters
- Use spaces or dashes to emphasize text
- No bullets
- No Graphics, including Wing Dings or special
characters
Content Tips to Maximize "Hits" in Our Résumé Tracking Database
- Use enough key words to define your skill, experience, education, professional affiliations, etc.
- Describe your experience with concrete words rather than vague descriptions.
- Use more than one page if necessary.
- Use jargon and acronyms specific to your industry. Make sure you list appropriate certifications and/or licenses.
- If you are not sure if the appropriate key words are part of the text, add a paragraph of key words to the bottom of your resume.
Although your resume will remain in our database for 2 years, it is important you re-submit it for all positions in which your skills and background are a potential fit. Doing so ensures that the recruiter assigned to your job is able to review it in a timely manner.
